Time for new irons, any suggestions?
I am a older 8/9 (53 yrs old). Made mistake of going graphite reg. flex 2 years ago. Computer says steel Project X 5.5 now or KBS stiff. Question is on Adams CB2's vs. I15's, vs. Taylor R9's Now playing X20's and hate them, but probably more shaft related. Also heard good things about MX300 and Diablo Forged. How about some feedback. Already high ball flight, names mean nothing to me, its about performance without having to live on the Driving Range, thats for you young guys.
Muzzuno always gets high marks. I played blades in my 20's and 30's then got lazy and old. the new tech seems like a cross almost between blade and cast. Has no one played the Adams CB2's?
High ball flight is likely due to your current shafts, remember they are the engine of the club. Honestly you really can't go wrong with many of the irons on the market. I suggest finding 3 that really catch your eye, especially at address, and demoing each with different shafts (if possible). Do not get caught up in forged vs cast as others may say, it is all personal preference on feel (and this is coming from someone who plays Mizuno MP-58s...which are great by the way).
You also mention the new tech seeming like a cross between blade and cast...I am not sure what you mean by this. Blade is a style, like cavity vs blade and cast is what it is made of, cast vs. forged. Newer cast clubs will feel a lot like forged, so the feel argument is irrelevant and comes down to what you feel. If you are a consistent ball striker then a blade or pocket cavity club should feel nice. If you do hit a shot thin or fat a few times a round, it may be beneficial to look into something more forgiving (MX-300 vs I15s)
